Christian education?

I read this article from Rich Melheim in his company’s monthly newsletter and it hit home with me as I try to figure out how God is calling the congregation I serve to reach out to the kids in our village.

My congregation does use the FaithInkubators Confirmation for our Middle Schoolers (6-8th grade) and I love it and I think the kids do too.  It’s a lot more work, but worth it.

Running away from mistakes

Responded to an injury accident with the Fire Department this morning (March 24). It was a hit and run. It was a head on collision between two vehicles but one left the scene. Witnesses know the color and make of the vehicle but that is about it.

It struck me how leaving the scene compounds the problem of the driver. Now they have an accident on their record and when they are found, a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

How often do we sin only to leave the scene and try to hide from God like Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden. All that accomplishes is us trying to run farther, hide better, and worry more about our own sin. How much does the pain of repentance and owning up to our shortcomings before God pay off in well being down the road? I know that when I’m running, it takes a whole lot more energy than repenting and dealing with the consequences.

And Peter

My April 2007 newsletter article is now online.  The Drama of Easter

The Good News of Easter is for everyone.  Who do you know that hasn’t heard the message?
