Synod Restructuring

The Northwestern Ohio Synod is intentionally looking at how we do ministry together.  Here is there explanation for why we are meeting to do this:

Why are we meeting? The synod is meeting in order to work to empower the people of the synod. People are increasingly reluctant to make a lifelong commitment to a committee. Committees and task forces don’t always come together to support each other’s projects. And we can learn from congregational best practices. Our problems:

  •  How do we realize not to always follow the status quo and change the “it’s always been done this way” attitude?
  • How do we make best use of our staff and their time?
  • How do we move to a quickly adaptable model to make us more flexible?
  • How can we use specific examples of congregations, rostered and lay persons?
  • How do we draw from congregations, rostered and lay leaders?
  • How do we learn from other synods so we don’t have to do things our own way?
  • How do we multiply gifts from lay leaders in the synod and multiply it?
  • How do we use our young lay leaders?

Pray for this work.  Our current church structures need work like this.  Pray that it will be fruitful and God will show us the way to more effective ministry together.
